We are Calling all Web Designers and Developers: We Want to Know the REAL You
February 17th, 2010 by We are Calling all Web Designers and Developers: We Want to Know the REAL You
This post is the foundation for a personal interview series we will start next week, where we will interview various web designers and developers that have been suggested to us by our readers! We want to delve into their creative minds, and get to know what really makes them tick! Inspired by Brian K. McDaniel, a fellow web designer and blogger’s idea of the, “Behind the Avatar” series, we want to get to know more about the people we follow on Twitter, the designers and developers we chat with, the people our readers follow on Twitter, and the designers and developers behind the blogs. The first thing I do when someone adds me on Twitter, is visit their blog to read the “about us” page, but usually that just leaves me wanting to know more; I want to know the person behind the blog.
Here on Admix Web, we believe in the importance of collaboration rather than competition between fellow web designers and developers. Furthermore, we believe in the importance of networking, meeting and getting to know colleagues in the field, and collaborating with fellow designers rather than seeing them as competition. However, our fellow designers and developers live in countries ranging from UK to USA to Serbia to Canada to India, thus it makes it difficult to meet up for a cup of coffee and a chat. Therefore, we are calling all Web Designers and Developers, because we want to know more about you, and we want to share what we learn with my readers.
How to Nominate
If you know a web developer or designer you would like to nominate for an interview, please email me at hlamarche@admixweb.com or leave a comment with their name and contact info. Also, you can nominate yourself for this series; do not be afraid! I want people who are interesting in sharing and discussing what makes them tick, so be ready to have your brain picked! And remember, I can always select my own people for the interviews; however, I want involvement from YOU, so please nominate away!
How to Get Involved
I want our readers to be involved not only through the nomination process, but also in the interview itself. Feel free to suggest various questions about topics you want to know. I want to provide you with the information you are craving!
Stay Tuned
Stay tuned for the first interview, which will be posted in the next few weeks!

nice article my friend
Thanks Angel! Muchas Gracias!
You should nominate someone for the interview!
I dont mind doing it.
Great send me an email…and we will discuss!
Hi Holly, I really like the idea, I think is an excellent way to get to know more about each other, since the design community is getting so big, It´s very difficult to have an open communication with all the people we want.
Excellent Idea an excellent post!!
Thanks! I am glad you like the idea! I agree…the community is so large that it is difficult to get to know people on a personal level. I am hoping this will help us get to know each other better!
Great idea, i would like to hear words of wisdom from Jackob Gube from Six Revisions.
Well maybe i could nominate my self too
Once again superb idea!
Great! Thanks for the selection! I will add her to to my list!
And, I will consider you as well!!!
This is one great idea! Good job Holly
Glad you liked it! Stay tuned for the interviews! And, remember to nominate someone
I have a suggestion: it would be interesting to see the workspace of each one you interview among with a picture of themselves and some designs they’ve made.
GREAT SUGGESTIONS! I was thinking about adding pictures of the designers, as well as their designs, but I like the idea of showing their work space! Thanks!
Great article. I wouldn’t mind being apart of it. I guess I’m saying I’m nominating myself. Looking forward to seeing how this all turns out.
Great! Glad to add you to the list. I will be in contact!
Hey Holly, What a great idea – I’ll volunteer
I live in Munich, Germany, so – who knows? – you might find me suited. Just pop those questions over if you like. Best regards from Kira
Great! I want people from all over the globe
Stay tuned, I will be in contact!
Thats a nice idea! Wud love to know more about fellow designers
Glad you liked it. Hope you come back to read the finished products!
hmmmn, finally a chance to take a piece of that 15 seconds of fame…
hahahahaha TRUE! we all want our 15 seconds of fame
No, seriously, I think all designers and developers want to be appreciated for their work. And, I think this is a great way for us to show appreciation!
For all those who have expressed interest, THANK YOU! I am thrilled that so many have contacted me though here, as well as through email. I will start the series next week, and will probably do 1-2 interviews per week, time permitting. So, stay tuned. I have 10 on the list already, so you will be hearing from in within the next few weeks!
Well, I am interested too!
Please put me on your list!!!
Andrea
