I definitely needed to read this, I’ve been in a huge rut with writers block lately. Thanks!
Great post! I actually do these things myself. Without reading it just thinking about different things you see. It’s kind of comment sense to me.
Great article!! Excellent points!!
Just want to add my two cents in two of the points:
- Vacation: Aside from taking time off and just to relax and clear your mind. Look around how the people do business in different countries and see what are some of the latest trends: Clothing, lifestyle, food…etc. And ask: Can those ideas be implemented in your own home country/city?
- Brainstorming: There are several brainstorming techniques. Ask questions such as: Who/What/When/Where/How? And also, the “so?” and “what does it imply”
Anyway, love this article!! Its articles like this that makes the society moving forward!!

This is a great article. I wanted to add a little about brainstorming. While grabbing a piece of paper and writing down thoughts (free writing) is definitely a good technique for brainstorming, there are certainly a ton of others. Some of my personal favorites are forced connections, magazine pulls and bridge building.
