One of the most important features of WordPress that sets it apart from other blogging platforms is the number and functionality of its plug-ins. These plug-ins help you to not to depend on third party apps and keep your entire content under your own control.
As of the time of this writing WordPress had 20,237 plug-ins. Plug-ins can extend your WordPress blog to do almost anything you want. I have seen some bloggers who own a WordPress blog say that whenever they want to do something new they search for an appropriate plug-in and they always find one.
jQuery is a JavaScript library which was designed to simplify the client-side scripting of HTML. Roughly speaking it is just another tool to design softwares.
