8 Tips Concerning Domain Names
Nov 15th 2009 by
I call it the “Domain Game.” Now days it can be almost impossible to select a domain name for your business’s website. When I get a project, many times the client will give me a list of ten or more possible domain names, and I have to respectfully suggest that they make me another list of ten after I have explained to them my tips for selecting a good domain name. Many times they are too long, too hard to spell, or just too generic. Another big issue these days is the buying up of domain names. Many times you cannot even get your company’s name, because they have been bought up by people to sell the domain later at a higher price. continue reading
15Design and Art: Are They the Same?
Nov 11th 2009 by
What is design? What is art? Are they one in the same? Are they mutually exclusive? The worlds of arts and design, and what they signify, was something I was wanted to delve into and explore more deeply, after someone just recently called me an “artist.” I have never thought of myself as an artist, because I recognize myself as a designer. Thus, I immediately corrected the person; by saying I was not an artist, but rather a designer. The next logical question which proceeded was, “what is the difference between the two?” I was able to create a reasonable explanation on a whim, but it did spur my curiosity to explore and ponder the question more fully. Now, to be truly honest, I think this is one of those issues that could be argued for years and years and never really resolved; however, at the same time, it is a topic that I think is worth discussing.
14AdmixWeb: Brainstorming our New Design!
Nov 7th 2009 by
At AdmixWeb, we are in the midst of an envolution of design, and we are currently brainstorming new ideas to update and improve our site! Many people ask me when is the right time to redesign your site. Is there a time frame to follow? Is there a formula to know when you should mix things up and freshen up the style of your page? Well, the honest truth is, not really. When I am given a design project of any kind, I do a checklist of what kind of style, color, font, layout, etc that particular company needs and what their viewers will like, and then I start my work. The design of any project must be compatible with the company for which that project is for, and the clients or users who which will utilize that design. continue reading

0Classic Art Of Edvard Munch
Oct 28th 2009 by
With Halloween looming, and the love of the uncanny and eery in the air, I thought it was only fitting to showcase some of the best art from Edvard Munch. The Norwegian expressionist artist born in 1863, had an amazing eye for the world, and he was quoted as saying, “We should no longer paint interiors with men reading and women knitting. We should paint living people who breathe, feel, suffer and love.” He was known for wanting to capture the true emotion, suffering, pain, loneliness, passion, fear, and the essence of human existence, and he wanted his art to create a strong emotional effect from its viewers. With titles such as Anxiety, The Scream, Separation, The Storm, Sick Child, and Death Agony, you can see that his art was straight forward and had one agenda, and that was to reveal the human existence for what it was, without sugar-coating anything. I just love his work, because of its ability to envoke an unsettling feeling withing, without having to be graphic in anyway; his art is subtle, yet commanding. I feel he is very well known for The Scream, but that most of his other work goes unappreciated. Here are some of my favorite examples of Munch’s art, and these always give me inspiration even in my Graphic and Web Design! I hope you enjoy them, as much as I do!
