Interview: Jacob Gube from Six Revisions
Mar 25th 2010 by
We are back with our fourth interview in our interview series, where we will be conducting personal interviews on fellow designers and developers! We have been getting some great interest, and we are so excited about the upcoming interviews we have scheduled for the next few weeks. This week was great honor and we were thrilled to be able to interview Jacob Gube from the iconic design blog, Six Revisions. This intelligent, creative, matter-of-fact guy is so laid back and was great to interview, and remember that he is not only a designer, but he is a developer, blogger, and book author. In addition, he runs one of the top ten design blogs out there, Six Revisions, which is on the Smashing Network, and he has written numerous guest posts for Smashing Magazine, and other great design blogs. Sit back and enjoy! And, remember, please email me if you are interested in being interviewed, or if you would like to nominate someone to be interviewed!
12Networking: Why Its Important and How To Do It Better
Mar 23rd 2010 by
We all know what social and career networking involves; it is the developing and maintaining of contacts and personal connections with different people in your niche area who might be advantageous to you and your career. Networking has helped me to get every job I have ever had, in addition to helping my businesses obtain and retain clients. With Twitter, Facebook, Linkedin, etc, we have all become gurus of sorts in the world of social and career networking. If you are a good web designer or developer, you know the importance of social and career networking both on the web and in person. However, in my experience, many designers and developers are introverts by personality, so though it is easy for them to networking via the internet, the actually person to person social or career networking is a little more difficult to them. In my opinion, both are equally important.
20Interview with Cerven Cotter of pixeldeath
Mar 18th 2010 by
Once again we are back with another intriguing interview, with a certified cool dude from the design community! Seriously, why are they all dudes? Any ladies would like to be interviewed??? Anyway, watch out, here he comes, consider yourself warned! No seriously, this interview was a real pleasure! Nothing is more refreshing than a blatantly honest guy, who is not afraid to be himself. Cerven Cotter hails from the UK, and at first glance he may seem like your run of the mill tattoo wearing, skateboard riding, red bull drinking (and when I say red bull drinking I really mean red bull drinking) designer, but there is so much more than meets the eye. He has a huge personality, and though he does not take himself or life too seriously, he does see good design as something not to mess with! Enjoy the third interview in our Interview Series, and remember to please contact me if you are interested in being featured in an upcoming interview. And of course, stay tuned for next week when we will interview Jacob Goube from Six Revisions! and the week after that is a surprise! So, here is Cerven Cotter!
6Creating an Animated CSS3 Horizontal Menu
Mar 16th 2010 by
Inspired by CSS Sprites2 – It’s JavaScript Time from A List Apart and Using jQuery for Background Image Animations written over a year ago, I decided to create a short tutorial about a animated menu just using CSS3. In fact, I am using the same principle of moving the background image from one position to another, in this case from left to right, the only difference is that I am using the CSS3 property transition to create the animations. This shows us how powerful CSS3 can be and how we can save some JavaScript code to achieve the same result. As you know, right know the transition property is only supported by Safari and Chrome.
35Incredible Examples of Superman Illustrations
Mar 12th 2010 by
I am sure many designers will agree with me when I say that comic illustrations are amazing, and I never get tired of looking at them. The core of a good comic is amazing illustrations, because, in my opinion, the words on the page come secondary to the graphic depictions they accompany. The essence of a comic is to lure the reader into an imaginary world through spectacular graphics, which include the use of color, shading, expression, action, and of course characters. One of the most famous iconic comic characters is the superhero, Superman, which is part of DC Comics. The coloring of Superman is composed of the three primary colors, Yellow, Blue, and Red, which give an aesthetically pleasing effect to this renowned comic character. Here are some incredible examples of Superman illustrations for you to enjoy! Get inspired!
